The 4 Stages of the Design Process
Although each design project is unique in scope and detail, a general, progressive
process Preliminary (Stage 1)
During this design phase the designer is getting to know you and your space. Information gathering is the primary objective. Photographing, informal interviews, measuring, and discussions of wants and needs are the designer’s primary tools for understanding your needs and your design style; and laying the groundwork for a successful design project. The information gathered is used as a framework from which the design direction is established.
Concept Development (Stage 2)
At this point in the design process the vision for the space is explored and developed. Scale drawings are utilized to assist in furniture arrangement, traffic flow, placement of artwork, suggested window dressings and so forth. We will research and suggest specific elements for your space such as color schemes, primary and secondary fabrics, furniture pieces and accessories. At the end of this stage a personalized design plan will be presented to you. You will now be ready to bring the design vision into reality.
Refinement and Production (Stage 3)
This is the phase for refining your design and setting production into motion. As selections are made and approved, purchase agreements are generated with exact pricing of products. Contractors and tradespeople will be engaged as necessary. We will continue to manage your project as orders are placed, tracked and coordinated through delivery of all products and materials.
Installation (Stage 4)
This is an exciting part of the design process as the design vision begins to take shape. As products arrive, installers and clients are notified and appointments are set for installation of goods. We will continue to work with you during installation until the design vision is fully achieved and you are completely happy with the results.
